by We came to Sanoook on a weekend when my friend and I were indecisive to choose whether to head to a Thai or a Japanese restaurant. As the discussion was going on, my friend recalled Sanoook – a restaurant with dishes representing a love affair of Thai and Japanese cuisine, as she once wanted to go there since its first launch in Sunway Pyramid. Of course, I was more than excited to go!
As we sat down in this cosy and welcoming restaurant, we were thrilled to know the name “Sanoook” is actually inspired by the word “Sanook” which means “fun” in Thai and an “o” is added as an illustration for a circle of friendship. We could not wait to try the dishes here and thus, to share with you our 3 favorites which would be yours too!
1/ Crispy Soft-Shell Crab with Curry Egg Gravy
As a huge fan of soft-shell crab, we could not resist ourselves to order the Crispy Soft-Shell Crab with Curry Egg Gravy here. Presented nicely in a petal-shaped dish (or like how I imagined it), the pieces of soft-shell crab laying atop chef’s famous curry egg gravy immediately whetted our appetite. Crunchy, light and airy, the crab was such an indulgence for our palate and it mingled just nicely with the delicious gravy.

2/ Crispy Duck with Coffee Sauce
The second dish that caught us by surprise is this Crispy Duck with Coffee Sauce. That’s why we were in awe after our first bite into the duck – crispy on the outside, tender on the inside with a sensational note of sweet, savory and acidic taste. 3/ Crispy King Prawn with Butter Cheese Sauce
Finally, an exquisite and palate-pleasing dish that we would love to come back for more is this Signature Crispy King Prawn with Butter Cheese Sauce. We were overwhelmed with the big portion of the king prawn set unpretentiously yet enough to entice our taste buds. The king prawn had such crispy goodness that reminded us of a delectable tempura. As the prawn was topped with lip-smacking butter cheese sauce, it had such pleasant buttery taste, not-flaky-at-all texture along with characteristic flavors which one cannot forgo.
